A light switch is one of those objects we touch every day. Yet it shapes the character of a room just as much as a lamp, a door handle or a piece of furniture. With a simple turn or press, it brings design and function together.
TECNOLINE switches draw on the clear, functional design language of classical modernism. Precise forms and carefully selected materials make them a natural complement to TECNOLUMEN lamps and architectural hardware. Whether made of transparent glass, classic porcelain or understated plastic, the different versions can be chosen to suit the architecture and interior.
The result is a coherent design concept – from the light to the door, from the wall to the smallest detail.
The first flush-mounted rotary switches with glass covers appeared as early as around 1920. Their design is as simple as it is effective: the transparent cover plate visually recedes, allowing the colour, wallpaper or texture of the wall beneath to remain visible.
This allows glass switches to blend naturally into a wide variety of interiors. On a white wall, they appear restrained and precise; on coloured surfaces or wallpaper, they take on the character of their surroundings. The round rotary knob adds a distinctive, precisely defined accent.
Glass switches are available as individual elements as well as in combinations. Switches, dimmers and sockets can be arranged on shared glass plates and configured to suit the individual requirements of a room.
Porcelain has a distinctive presence of its own. Its smooth surface, reassuring weight and subtle sheen turn every use of the switch into a tactile experience.
In white, porcelain appears bright and understated; in black, it creates a striking graphic accent. The switches work equally well in historic buildings and contemporary interiors where traditional materials are used deliberately.
Combined with a Bauhaus lamp or a classic door handle, the result is not a nostalgic interior, but a space in which material, form and function are carefully coordinated.
The plastic versions focus entirely on form and function. Their reduced design makes them an understated solution for residential interiors, offices and larger architectural projects.
Black and white elements can be used flexibly and combined with other materials within the range. This allows the switches either to blend discreetly into the wall or to be used deliberately as a contrasting design element.
