Marianne Brandt, 1926

Marianne Brandt designed the HMB 27 in 1927 – at a time when the Bauhaus was searching for clear, functional and timelessly beautiful forms. This ceiling lamp reflects that attitude with particular clarity: a simple glass sphere, suspended from three fine chains, reduced to the essentials yet with a strong spatial presence.

The HMB 27 is a variation of the DMB 26. Instead of metal rods, the opal glass body is held by three chains. This gives the lamp a lighter, almost floating appearance without losing its constructive clarity. Its evenly diffused light makes it a discreet yet distinctive choice for living spaces, hallways, staircases, reception areas and representative interiors.

TECNOLUMEN manufactures the HMB 27 faithfully according to historical specifications, using authentic dimensions and materials. The lamp is available with nickel-plated metal parts or with a polished, zapon-varnished brass fitting and chain. The opal glass body creates a soft, glare-free light and emphasises the functional elegance of this Bauhaus design.

Each lamp is consecutively numbered and bears the TECNOLUMEN/BAUHAUS signet. The HMB 27 therefore stands not only for Marianne Brandt’s design clarity, but also for the particular care with which TECNOLUMEN continues to preserve and manufacture Bauhaus originals today.
