Mathias Schifferdecker is a German engineer and designer known for his innovative and creative designs in lighting and furniture. His passion for design was shaped early on by his exposure to high-quality furnishings in his parents' furniture store. His works are distinguished by clear, minimalist lines and a strong affinity for Bauhaus aesthetics, as seen in the Cubelight, which allows for geometric versatility and personalized color combinations.
One of his most notable designs is the Cubelight (2012), featuring 18 glass cubes and indirect LED lighting that creates captivating light reflections, even when turned off. An extension of this design, Cubelight move (2020), incorporates advanced remote control functions, allowing users to adjust color temperature and brightness remotely with motion-based controls. Schifferdecker’s pieces are exhibited in prestigious museums, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
