Günter Leuchtmann
1943 – 2005
Günter Leuchtmann was a Hamburg-based designer and interior architect whose work is defined by clear forms, high-quality materials and a particular sensitivity to light. From 1973 until around 1980, he ran a design object shop in Hamburg before focusing independently on the design of luminaires from 1980 onwards.
His preferred materials were metal and glass. Leuchtmann understood light not merely as a functional element, but as a creative force within a space. His designs combine technical precision with a sculptural quality and a restrained yet striking elegance.
Among his best-known works is the pendant lamp “Le Tre Streghe”, which he designed in 1981. In 1986, he followed with the floor lamp “Egyptian Eye”. Both designs demonstrate Leuchtmann’s characteristic approach to reflection, transparency and spatial atmosphere.
With his luminaires, Günter Leuchtmann created distinctive design objects that continue to impress today through their material quality, craftsmanship and unmistakable lighting effect.
